Tonight varsity boys' soccer head coach Brian Hughes leads your (12-0) OK Blue Conference Champions into a district semifinal against former OK Gold opponents South Christian.  For years South Christian dominated the OK Gold conference but your Cougars were making headway on becoming contenders.  Then in 2015 the realignment of the OK Conferences slowly began to dissipate the rivalry as both teams were separated by conference assignments.  The only thing that seemed to keep it alive were a few scrimmages and a shortened tournament game earlier this year.  After both teams won their quarterfinals on Monday, Cougars beating Lakewood 5-0 and South beating Grand River Prep 8-0, the rivalry is beginning to build back into what it once was.  The adrenaline and excitement of waiting on that first whistle beginning the game is intensifying minute by minute and will continue to build until the final whistle stops it.  Hopefully ending in a favorable result.  Tonight your boys' varsity soccer team needs your help.  Join them tonight at the South Christian Athletic Complex (7979 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508)  at 6:45 pm for kick off.  Or if you can't make the game follow them on Twitter and Instagram @grccboyssoccer for live updates.
